Hey curly girls!! Today I wanted to share my natural hair journey.

I began my natural hair journey in Spring 2012. I had been looking at these pictures of girls with beautiful curls for months and I was jealous. The hair envy was really real! So I finally decided to get off the creamy crack. I wish I could say that my transition was a breeze that would be a lie!!! Most days my hair looked a mess, just plain ratchet.
(I'm the girl in the back, and as you can see, that hair is not cute!)

I had no idea what do to my hair, I was so lost. I would spend hours on end looking on YouTube to find good transition styles but that was no help at all. Most people talked about doing braid outs, twist outs, and bantu knot outs. I tried all three and let me just say, NO BUENO!

After a while I learned to do protective styles such as sew-ins, box braids( my go to protective style), and kinky twist.

After a year and a couple of months I decided that it was time to cut off my relaxed ends and be the naturalista I was born to be. I called up my big brother (who is a licensed cosmetologist) and I told him it was time! So on June 30, 2013 I officially did the big chop! I was so nervous but so ready to finally get back to my roots! I wasn't looking the cutest but I was happy to be completely natural.

It hasn't been that long and look where my hair is now!!!! I'm so proud of myself.
If your transitioning phase is hard, don't give up because the end result is well worth the struggle.
